This is our journal as we go through the 49 days (step-by-step) from decision to in-vitro fertilization. Scheduling, details, feelings, thoughts; all are recorded here. It is an amazing process, and we felt it vital to chronicle it.

BlackJack

No, we're not in Vegas. But this does mark week 21.

We did complete our "Preparing for Multiples" class and learned some interesting things, mostly they came across as survival tips. The truth is there is some anxiety about how difficult the early days will be: little sleep, no time to shower and just how many diapers Bennett and Grayson will go through. Then again, we keep being assured that a level of normalcy will occur after a schedule gets established. We're told after some point, twins even become easier than raising a singleton. We'll believe that when it happens.

Grayson has been very active this week, kicking, stretching, pummeling internal organs. Bennett, however, has been rather quiet, making his presence known only occasionally. The difference between them is already starting to become apparent. Of course, the many movements of one while the other is docile does create a mother's anxiety that something might be wrong. Yet the doctor states everything is fine.

So, once again, here is the development update for the week:

Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — about the size of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now.
